Re: Today's Run is ....

200ltrs of CFW.

It's my first crack at such a big wash and to be honest I don't recon I'll have enough collection jars to run all 4, 50ltr runs.

I quick question for the guru's, will I loose too much flavour from the CFW if I strip first though the pot and then re run through the bubbler?

I think I would like to do the whole 200ltrs in a small space of time because I don't want to risk infection once I uncover it. And today is the only free day I will have for a week or so.

Any thoughts?

Thanks guys

From my understanding its better to do the stripping runs then the spirit run as youl get a larger hearts portion and the flavour should carry over

All good WD, when you dilute to ~40% just use wash :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Edit: I'd run the strips quite low to pull some tails through, that'll help flavour the spirit run too

Thanks boys

So I'll run the strips down to 20% then leave say 20ltrs of wash to dilute the low wines :handgestures-thumbupleft: awesome I'll get straight into it.

My first run of rum. I'm a little worried that's it's going to puke though. I have about 25 litres in a 30 litre keg. Put a knob of butter in which will hopefully stop it.
Does it matter if it pukes on a strip run?

A little puke on a stripping run wont hurt mate, you just dont want it foaming out through the condenser ;-)

For rum (in future) you should generally allow at least a 3rd of your boiler as head room :handgestures-thumbupleft:

My recent rum strips have all puked, even with only 30L in a 50L boiler... Don't worry about it too much, you just need to be WATCHING your still at all times, because if it's going to puke it happens bloody quickly!

Thanks for the help guys. It didn't end up puking at all so it's all good. First gen stripped. Although all I really wanted was the backset to start gen 2. This gen is turning into white rum for some friends!!
