I did find the slightest leak on one of the sight glasses, but i think not enough reflux could of contributed also.

Reflux is the key :handgestures-thumbupleft: no liquid coming down your down commers and all you have is a pot still.

Certainly is... got right through to the tails and it only dropped around 1% and that was towards the tails. :happy-partydance:
The air temp is dropping a fair bit out here now so that may be contributing too.

I wish i was!
It was just a wash made with the barley left from my last AG and some sugar. Being that it was my 3rd gen using backset i thought id chuck in a couple litres worth of corn and see what i get.
Just had some distillers privilege with coke and it taste real nice, should come up smick after aging on oak for a bit.
I kept an icecream containers worth of grain in the freezer (hate to waste) and used that in this gen too... worked great.
You'll get there with your still soon enough, i did get toey towards the end of my build too. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Well , in the shed today i ran a 40lt macrum, it had been a bugger to keep it rolling/fermenting . On looking back (ps,it was a 2nd gen with 5lt bwckset usedz) i colonised the yeast 1st and only used about 40g , i just did everything on the fly.
It got cold and then i left heat belt on and it got hot , :handgestures-thumbdown:
Anyhow, it only produced about 2.1 lt and after cutting probably keep about 1lt (200'ml cut jars ).
Then set another wash on the way this time about 4lt backset and 4kg raw sugar pinch Epsom and a WEIGHED 80 gr yeast about 33 degrees 20 min later a thick 3 inch foam layer.
I'm brewing in s 60lt fermenter.
Still getting used to the bubbler and recycling water system, time in the seat was a old saying that comes to mind, happy stilling folks :greetings-waveyellow:

After all it sounds like you covered a few of the main problems.

New brand of malt mate. Crisp is the brand. I managed to get my hands on a sack of their peated malt. Mashed in yesterday, so far so good, smells nice and smokey. Monday I am picking up Crisp pot still malt, it is a regular 2 row with reduced protein, some crisp malted maize and crisp malted oats (70/20/10) grain bill.
