Job ?

You mean like the dream job working from home as an extension of your hobbies ?

Dont do it :handgestures-thumbdown:

I doubt I'll ever get the "love" from my hobby that I had a few yrs ago, it's pretty tough on the ol' noggin working from home 24/7 if you're a workaholic like me.

I wish you the best of luck, I've found those who want work get work pretty quickly, even if it's not quite what you intended to do.

Good luck and best wish's, hope you get employment real soon.

Mac.

Yea I've been out of work now for about 7 weeks and sick of applying left right and centre only to be ignored or have to drive down to the dump (Adelaide) for an interview with a slavelabour hire company only to be emailed a few days later I didn't go past the first round. Came out of my time in '84 as a 1st class tradesman and got a wealth of experience only now guys can do a 3 year cert 3 course and bludge thru it to become a tradesman then thru their mates get all the jobs. No wonder the industry is in a mess and companies are moving off shore as whats is called a rich pool of labour is just a joke. I turned 50 this year and looks like that puts a huge disadvantage on getting a job. O'well suppose we are surviving better than most as no power or water bills and a freezer full of homegrown meat with a nice vege patch.

It's a bit far but You might have some luck with TA work at Roxby. Probably a bit far to drive to drop off a CV but I know they love it when people take the time to drop them off in person.

Good luck anyway, something will pop up.

try being an earthworks all rounder digger specialist of 25yrs applying for jobs in the mines, My resume is about half a page long..... some youngen has a 15 page resume and did a tafe course gets the job every time.

Honestly !! I've sacked better operators than the average we see in this day and age... isnt technology great :laughing-rolling:

If you scratch the counterweight on my digger you get flogged, then sent home, but apparently I cant do that anymore :laughing-rolling:

Hey mate, a HR licence will expand your options a fair bit. I always fall back to truck driving when all else fails :handgestures-thumbupleft:

When I was out of a job last year I did go looking into doing a MR licience only to find coff up 3K and do it in 3 weeks or do a friggin 8 week course as part of the skills for all. Now with that I said to the instructor I used to repair road trains and on a few occasions had to drive one back to town after finding out the driver had taken off and left the rig. Did that count NO FRIGGIN WAY as it was done in another state.

I'm now looking at a job away from my trade and after talking with a guy yesterday I will have a top chance of getting it.

Hey timmsy,

I know you wanted to stay north of adelaide so this may be no good for you but thomas foods the meat works in murray bridge is looking for people for all types of work. It may not be the sort of work you want but if you get desperate look them up on line.

Being in murray bridge it might suit you brian ?

Just thought I'd chuck it in the mix.

Good luck boys

WD that job WAS one I applied for and had to drive down to the dump with all my trade papers and didn't get past that for the job apart from an email saying my application wasn't accepted. In a way I'm glad as some of the stories I heard that have happened there I didn't really want to work there but had to give it a go regardless. After this stripping run I'm off to a new employment mob to get this cover letter done and my resume fixed up.

Although I am out of work I have never felt better and doing a heap more around the farm with the outlook well things will turn around so why be down and wonder where the next cabbage is coming from. 10 years ago when we told people we are off the grid they asked if we lived in a cave, now I'm getting hammered with questions and it is paying off so that is keeping our heads above water.

Eh Timmesy,
If your down in the dumps mate come on up this weekend and have a bbq on the farm, eh between us we can sort out a heap of stuff and if you have a family bring them up as I have 2 young girls here. PM me if you want to do this then it can happen as I hate to see a bloke down in the dumps.

Cheers Bryan
