My carport aint big enough!

Postby Sam. » Thu Dec 15, 2011 8:52 pm

just did some quick measurements under my carport in town and I only have 2600mm clearance and from my calculations my just beginning construction VM/LM still is going to be a bit higher :angry-banghead:

Just wondering what heights other dudes are getting going for a 50L keg base with VM or LM column (am going for 1500 of reflux packing)

Also thought about the Hammerhead condenser idea but not sold :( Are there any negatives to going this way?

G'day S&L
I just finished my 3" boka, with 1500mm of packing, sitting on keg, sitting on burner stand , it's 2.75 m
:o :o
but the shed roof at ridge is 4.2 m with 2.7 m walls :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Hey stubbs, how long is your reflux condenser? and how much space lost between condenser and packing?

A 1500mm column ends up being around the 1800mm mark with an upright condensor. If you look at some of eminim's builds (minime on artisan) you'll see he has an off horisontal coil housing on his latest.

A keg is around 600mm so if you were to go electric it would fit easy.

keg could be turned on side or cut the concrete and put in a pit.

My 2 inch with 1500 packed length VM/LM is 2300 from bottom of keg connection flange to the top of the permanently attached mirror (2200 to the top of the vertical condenser this does not include the keg or burner (my burner is this with modified legs http://www.companionleisure.com.au/index.php?p=line&sid=1278983706 ))

Hey 4runnin
I was thinking of a mirror mounted up top of the Boka I just finished building ,
How do you find it ? Is it worthwhile doing ? I'm assuming it would be mounted at a 45 degree angle (or something like that ) and not so big it would be a problem in storage , moving about etc. etc

Cheers
