Doubt it, if it's close to azeo then it'll be mostly ethanol evaporating. It'd be nice though if it was mostly water evaporating, cause then we'd all air for 1 week :))

LOL. I've never left my jars more than 48 hrs before so I was pretty surprised at the amount of loss. ABV was 92%. I was wondering if the extreme heat events (42ish) had a hand in it too

So, trying to make some of TeddySads FFV, coz, you know, my son has a lot of alcohol swilling friends....
So I’m cleaning my 60L FV and find this...

I tried putting it back in using 2 hands on opposite sides; I tried the fridge; and I tried the freezer (coz we know it makes everything smaller...). None of it worked.
So I got a little emotional and fixed it...

Then, following the recipe, I started boiling the Bran.... and left it after 35 Mins coz it refused to boil... a commercial or three later I figured ‘that Brans had enough time on the stove!’ And find this...

Don't worry about the fermenter seal, just put the lid on without it. So long as it's run soon after finishing it'll be all good. Or use glad wrap, no lid.

Thx DB,
Tried glad wrap... wasn’t too successful on account of finding loads of ‘turdbudgies’ in the wash... probably because the dogs opened it up...

Maybe use glad wrap and then your lid on top, but loosely.

If fermenter is not sealing put a plastic bag over the fermenter to stop bugs and stops condensation and dirt .

In my rush to gather bulk supplies, I forgot about the malted barley needing milling. The best I have for grinding is a nutribullet which hold only ~200g. Luckily I was mashing with unmalted cracked barley as well so only had to grind 6kg of malt. I'll find out tomorrow how successful my grind was.

Good luck! I hope it works out for you... chances are it will, seem to be quite forgiving and the whole purpose of 'cracking' is to allow access to the sugars/Starches within so a fine grind may present issues with 'dough-balls' but not so much with extraction.

I was worried about going too fine and in the process have probably not gone far enough. It's in an esky overnight so has plenty of time do convert, if it can.

So that worked better than I imagined. 9kg of grain into a 30L wash at an SG of 1.066.
