Ran for the first time electric today. This was the 35l I had stripped from my 200l rum wash. Used both elements to heat, and switched to the lower one only for the spirit run. Temp at the top,of the column was a pretty constant 80 degrees c just a constant thin line of output from the parrot. Pulled out 11 litres between 90% and 70%.
I stopped collecting heads at 800ml as the taste had taken on an earthiness and a better mouth feel. I still have around 25l in the boiler, some hearts still left in that, but I ran out of day. I have 10l at around 80% sitting on second hand oak chips. I have heaps of new ones, but I wanted to experiment with the corn whiskey oak, and see if some of the corn whiskey flavour would find it's way in. Has a little problem with the holes, I used a hole saw, and one of the holes wouldn't thread the element in. Had to plug that one and try again.
The controller I screwed together worked fine. The controllers did generate some heat so I just left the lid off. Fan is still on its way.
Thanks for all your help to get me to where I am.
