Finding it difficult to get my hands on a keg

Hi guys,

I've been chatting to a few local publicans asking about getting my hands on (buying) an empty 50L keg. They've not been particularly helpful. (the one at my regular is too bloody ethical :D and the others may be suspicious of a stranger coming in with strange questions)

So, my question to the experts is:

In Sydney, does anyone:

- know where I can buy an empty
- have one they want to sell

I had one suggestion on simply swiping one - but that is something I really don't want to do.. :)

Any help would be massively appreciated :)

try ringing the "local taphouse" a pub in sydney they often have craftbrew kegs from overseas that do not get sent back to OS empty and they sell them off

make sure it's SS as some from OS are now ally

Hey I had the same problem but stumbled across keg king after a bit of searching. They sell second hand 50l kegs. Hope this helps :)

do any of your liquor stores sell kegs of beer? They usually require a deposit. Get the keg, drink the beer and keep the keg. Our deposits have increased to $75 in the USA but that is still a cheap keg.

yes but not like in the USA... and not many here i know buy kegs of beer and have the gear to pour it. it's just not popular for "at home"

we are more a carton / slab of beer type mob

we can buy empty legit kegs for $100 pretty easy.. just lots of TAB's here.... thats Tight Arse Brewer's :laughing-rolling:

the keg party thing is popular here and the liquor stores provide the manual pump taps for the kegs too. We have a stupid activity called a keg stand.
