Some new medals ... for the Doctor

Postby the Doctor » Mon Apr 24, 2017 8:43 pm

So pleased to announce that we just got notice that we won a few medals at the San Francisco Show... All the spirits were distilled on 5 star stills.

Belle Epoque single malt whiskey... Gold
Dobson's New England Dry Gin... Silver
Sumac Gin... Silver
Pure Vodka... bronze

Australian distilled spirits awards
Sumac gin ... Silver
Dobson's Bitters... Bronze

So a great couple of results, I am so proud of our small team. And thanks to Mac and Mrs Mac, for all the support and great gear.

Thanks guys for the kind words, but this really was a team effort. Ian and Josh my fellow distillers deserve a lot of the credit.

I guess this means i will never be able to taste them.
Ones that win awards quickly rise above my price range.

Good job Dobsons.

Good job Dobsons.

I hope our whiskeys are always priced well... I really hate how distillers price gouge after awards.... The realities are that whiskey of quality does cost a lot to make, just to illustrate we charge $160 for this whiskey...it seems a lot I know, but lets just break it down.... Grain Scottish two row peated ($70 per bottle at 60%) excise $37.70 (from memory) bottle 60 cents to $1.60...label 50 cents, labour estimate $15...freight estimate $7 ( Often much more) then you have to buy barrels and age the spirit... we take everything into account to determine a price...that price is determined by the true total cost to us...not demand.
Having said that whiskey will always cost more than most other spirits...it simply costs more to make.
