Yer getting back into it now mate. I've just gotta catch up with work after the few weeks off.

I've been playing around in the shed a bit and got the templates ready for the sightglass branch offs so won't be long before you'll start seeing progress. Just got one other little project to finish off then full steam ahead on the mother.

I've dicided to keep things simple and just use triclaps on the sightglasses, I just don't see me having the time to do too much complicated stuff plus my boiler could take up some time.

Eh Woody if you want a bigger boiler just look for an old Beasley hot water tank as theres a 250 litre copper boiler hidden in the insulation with a 3Kw element waiting to be powered up and the answer is NO :violence-stickwhack: you not getting mine :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Will do mate but 250ltr is a bit big for me i recon. I'm thinking 120 will be good, 100ltrs of wash and 20ltr head space. I'm definitely going double boiler similar to bushy's but still doing the research, I don't need a bomb or a buckled mess. I'll post a few ideas later tonight. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I have been pondering a double boiler with an rc mounted. Doesnt build pressure would just blow past rc..

Interesting  I like it :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I think with the right pressure reliefs it would be safe enough but also gotta make sure it’s built strong enough to take the small amount of pressure that will be in there. Stainless is notorious for cracking on joins that flex, if there is pressure there it will flex in and out causing a weak spot.

Re: The Mother Duck

So after a few calculations ive come up with some ideas and sizing. 600mm diameter 420mm high boiler will give me approximately 118ltrs. I've chosen 420 high because thats about the hight of a 50ltr keg with the top and bottom cut off. If I then cut it up the side I will have a ribbed "sheet" I can do the same to the another and join the 2 together at the right diameter and then fabricate a cone for the top and bottom. If my calcs are right 3 kegs will do both the internal and external skins of the double boiler. I like the keg idea because it has the ribs around it for strength. I can use the top cone to seal both layers but I will need to build two for the two layers at the bottom. Make sence?

Thanks to bushy for the boiler inspiration :handgestures-thumbupleft:
