I have a rims tube ordered with 5 star. Any recomendations on controllers? Dont think i want to build one from a pid etc would rather a turn key solution. Have seen some on brew sights are they all pretty much the same, pid with a ssr/scr?

Yea march pump. There is software for an arduino powered controller but I know if I go this way I will be stuffing around for ages ordering parts working stuff out etc etc i just want a ready made one..

I just started ordering a bunch of parts for a craftbeerpi setup. If i wasnt going to diy and was only mashing smaller amounts, I'd go for a grainfather controller. They look great for the price but I think they are 2000w max.
Got me curious with craftbeerpi on the schematic it shows one power source but three ssr's. Two heaters one pump. To run that wouldnt you need three power in sources? I guess it would depend on power drain but pretty pointless having anything under 2400w for heating me thinks 8-} or maybe an industrial 30a circuit..

Yeah i havent worked that out yet, shouldn't be a problem though. I will have 2 elements as i boil with gas. I plan to have 2 240v inputs for the SSRs.

Trying my all grain non peated whiskey is very nice if I do say so myself. Spicy and floral, fruitiness has subsided and the early chaff taste has faded into the back. Hopefully my rims tube will get here soon so I can add the next installment to this thread recirculation and step mashing . Wont be long till I will need more grain. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Finally got back to my mates house bluc, and all of our Ag peated whiskey is gooone! Anyway, we had a wee dram of the NGW and are amazed by just how good it is for he crap that goes into it. Are you doing any cereal washes anymore, or is the standard of the AG product, even unpeated, making the time and effort well worth it?
Only done a few all grains but I find if i do a sugarhead with spent grain and sour mash it. The grain goes a lot further and my spirit lasts a lot longer.. have a couple of all grains then session on the sugarhead. Havent done a cereal in a while as in cfw or nutrigrain, i find grain even as sugarheads make a better drop :handgestures-thumbupleft:
