With brazeing I never quench or cool the job down too quick ,once ya done as ya may get cracks, just leave it alone in a warm oven or spot ,when I worked as a boilermaker we had a heat enclosuer(big insulated box) and left some things for 24-48hrs ta cool slowly to avoid cracks and distortion,on researching brazeing the best way is in an oven with no oxygen to avoid what we called porosity in a weld or braze join and to give the whole job a uniform temp, thats why ya use shielding gas so the welding is going on in an oxygen free environment, wich is fine for big commercial workshops but the hobbiest has ta make do with an often less than perfect set up ,yes windy days outside will test ya skill, and patience and a gentle approach,I have had a few times were I had ta walk away otherwise the 5lb adjuster was going ta get a work out,by the end of building ya still you are just starting ta get the hang of it :angry-banghead: ,it is a skill wich like welding requires constant practice to keep up to standard or above, thats why I get all my stainless tigging is done by a full time welder ,never had a problem with any leaks either or bird crap welds ,stay cool and keep swinging.cheers hillzabilly ;-)
