my boiler insulation

Postby Doubleuj » Thu Jun 07, 2018 1:03 pm

Finally finished my boiler shroud for my 100L FSD boiler.. :happy-partydance:
89B5928A-4F42-45D9-A152-F933C9CBF03A.jpeg

Inside the timber barrel is vermiculite so the insulation factor is expected to be through the roof!!!
Plus I added a 4” fill port, bottom drain and a third element :scared-eek:
So it’s got 2x 2400w and 1 x 3600w elements :music-deathmetal:
That’s 8400w up it’s bum :laughing-rolling:
Doing the maiden sac run now with a full 100L , turned it on at 12:55pm.

Awesome work need another photo with some light on the situation. Did you take it to metal shop to add ports or diy?

8400? Do you mean 12000 W? Or does it have one 3600 W element?

Either way that's impressive :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Nice looking boiler

3hrs after switching it off the backset is still at 90 deg. That’s with having the fill port open for most of that time :scared-eek:

Some very nice work there mate!
Sure puts a plain old keg to shame. Your whole setup looks the part now. Just wondering where you got the vermiculite from?
