Thanks bluc.
Spoke too soon though! :angry-banghead:

Found a leak in the top of my PC. Shouldn't take too much to fix though. Better finding it now rather than wondering why my rum taste like crap!

Yeah water leak. Not sure why it all of a sudden leaked though, pressure tested it all earlier and no probs.
Anyway... all fixed now i hope. Took a few goes to get a little pin prick to take solder, but we got there.

All good mate.. spare time is a scarce commodity, especially with a young family!
Vinegar and sac run all done. Ready for a dinky die run. My last CFW ferment hasnt quiet finished yet so just waiting for that.
I do have some BWKO feints there so i might give her a crack with them.

Bubbler is chugging along nicely!
Up to jar 13 with 250mm cuts.. shes coming out at 89% Abv. Thought it might be a bit higher than that.
I started with 15ltrs at 29%. I wouldnt normally water down so low but wanted to make sure my element stays covered.
Nearly buggered my top element the other day... wash level got lower than i thought while doing sac run. :angry-banghead:

Nice, you might be running it a bit hard if your abv is down at 89%. Is it stable at 89 or dropping?
Come to think of it you might be well into tails if you only started with 15L. Is there fogging on the bottom sight glass and less activity on the bottom plate?

By 13 jars at 250 ml each should be about 2/3 of the alcohol in the boiler (with 15 L at 29%), so most likely into tails.

equipment: Eve - 4" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (sieve plates), 330 mm packed section on a keg boiler with 2 x 2000 W elements.
Currently having a makeover: 2" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (1" bubble caps, no sight glasses...maybe not for much longer!) on a bain-marie boiler.

The Abv was stable @ 89% from the start until the tails. Being an all feints run would that effect the abv?
The output was definately around 2ltrs/hour. The bottom window did sorta water up at the end (i wouldnt say fog up)

Abv does play a part I have found. I often end up with 89-90%. First run or two I got 93% after cuts but found it lacking flavour so I run faster now. 2" caps will give lower abv but more flavour. I am thinking of making set of perf plates for neutral.. but I gotta try a 4th 2" cap first.. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Thanks bluc :handgestures-thumbupleft:
Yeah I'm not too stressed about the abv, just thought i may have cracked the 90 or better. Either way its ahead of the pot.
Even just smelling the jars straight off the still you could pick the cuts a lot clearer, should be even better after 24 hrs.

I didnt as i thought my temp was pretty close, but i was wrong. Checked this morn and it was only 12 deg, so that puts my Abv at 91-92% temp corrected.
That will teach me for guessing.

Little addition to my bubbler. Should be a bit safer than the plank of wood i was using the other day! :laughing-rolling:

That's a very nice setup indeed Dan. The only thing missing is a dead sexy copper parrot.

Cheers,
