I've only done a couple of runs since I got my still but my basic practice has been to hold full reflux for an hour before backing off the water to the RC and starting very slow collection. Basic day is about 8hours start to finish for a 50L wash which I'll get about 2L after cuts at around 91%
I haven't really been bothered to collect tails on the neutral runs so usually when I cut off is just at the start of the tails smell and it's still up usually around that same figure. I'd say I collect around 2.5L of neutral heads/tails which I keep on as my low wines and will eventually do a run that's just low wines in the future.
Is my method flawed? Happy to take on any advice. I'm not really after quantity - im in it for the quality and hobby value. Generally I haven't gone far into collecting tails as everyday I've run the still it's been raining and about 3degrees so just get to the point where I want to go back inside :))
