I think the best experiment would be to run a wash through a still with very small cuts (less than 100 ml) and a parrot, take note of the jar/s for the heads/hearts and hearts/tails transitions and then tip it all back into the boiler and run it again with very small cuts but without a parrot. Then compare transitions. If you end up with more hearts without a parrot, then don't use it in future. If there's no difference, keep using it.
