Hey all :greetings-waveyellow: :greetings-waveyellow:
Just getting into this game and have found this site a wealth of information......thanks.
I will be getting into doing a Molasses Rum for a start. Mainly going down this path as I am a big Bundy fan (Would love to find a recipe for Bundy Red :)) )

So far have got...
*A cheap Ebay Pot with a thumper.
*Hydrometer thingey
*25L Bucket of Molasses.
*Raw Sugar.
*Am testing a 55w fish tank heater.
*Just ordered some EC-1118 Yeast.

Still Need...
*Settle on a recipe.
*A bucket for my wash.
*Clean and test my Still
*??????
*??????

Have probably missed a lot but am here to learn........so feel free to chip in 

Welcome mate.

Not the most important thing but haven’t heard of too many using EC1118 for rum?

I know of people who spent years trying to copy bundy, doesn't happen. What you will get is an awesome full flavoured rum. I recommend mcrum with or without gens it's a good drop. If you like fruity rum(rum and raisen) then ferment hot 35-40 and only pitch like a tablespoon yeast into 60l...both those things will create esters(flavours) :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Welcome Dick Jane! :handgestures-thumbupleft:
You've come to the right place for great advice.
A pic of your still would be great.
One thing to watch with your molasses is that it is free of preservatives.

Welcome to AD Dick Jane.

I reckon once you've tried your own rum from one of the tried and proven recipes, you'll never drink Bundy again.

You'll also need some small glass jars to collect your cuts in and something to age your product in.

Definitely post a picture of your still, cheap eBay stills make me nervous and a quick visual safety check wouldn't hurt.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

I’m not a big rum maker but many have had good success with good old bakers yeast.

Or you can go down the path of rum specific yeasts, you will find info with a quick search of the forum :handgestures-thumbupleft:
