Allergic reactions. This is one of the things that has drawn me to home distilling. A lot of booze out there (including quality) has a preservative called sulfites. Its a mined salt, not man made, so it can even be used in organic foods (arghhh!) Companies in Australia have to label their products if they use more than ten parts er million. They don't have to if they use ingredients in their product that contain sulfites (also known as sulphites).
I know this because I am allergic to this preservative, usually labeled as 200-230 ish. I have a range of symptoms from a rash, monster headache, hayfever like sneezing, right up to constriction of the throat.
So no glucose, wine, icing, bourbon, chocolate, vingear (why does this need a preservative!) (anything coloured at all) processed bran, oats, blah blah bah.
Lucky Im a maker. No recipe has gone unburnt in my kitchen and no bran has escaped my ninja chopper.
My message here is check the back of the packets of everything. Most of the stuff that came in my turbo kit is has sulfites listed on the back. Some tomato pastes too. If you're getting sick this stuff is probably not helping much. \
Hope this helps someone resolve any issues
