Stave thickness

Postby rash » Mon Apr 08, 2019 11:35 am

Just wondering if anyone with a 20ltr oak barrel could give me an idea of the thickness of it's staves? Also height of the barrel would be good also. Got a heap of American oak offcuts at work and looking into making a barrel..
Thanks!

Ahhh, thanks, was hoping they would be around 18mm...
Heck, they do alright bending 35mm.. or do you think they carve them exposing end grain?
Will have no where near enough at that thickness.

That is thickness isn't it? Not width of planks?
Thanks,

Yea thickness. Mine has a steel threaded insert but is fairly accurate guesstimate, by stinking finger in then measuring... Pretty sure they are bent.. Maybe combo bent and carved..
