Yep forget the pot. It will end up with some ordinary unsafe arrangement to hold the lid on that will involve bulldog clips, rubberbands and a brick, waste of time and will only end in heart ache, stress and an empty pocket or even a burnt down house. There's a good reason you don't see these sorts of stills on this forum, they're a liability. If your after quick and easy go for a keg. Build your still with a 2" easy flange and it will clamp straight onto the keg with a tri clamp. Throw a burner under it and that's it your done, ready to go :handgestures-thumbupleft: kegs can be found on gumtree for about $50. Like bluc said, if you want you can go electric (my recommendation), add a drain, fill port or whatever takes your fancy later on.
Quite often what we think is quick and easy when we start a new hobby actually isn't, I and a lot of people on here are living proof of that.
