Without having read the article...

'Coz every cockhead on the planet is making gin, the market is saturated and you need a gimmick to sell it?

Limited to a 3000 bottle production run.

We don't have Vegemite readily available here in the U.S.,
but a friend who tried it chucked the whole jar away after one bite.

Blasphemy!!! How dare your friend discard the whole jar like that! I reckon he'll be on a watch list with Border Force now, when caught he'll be made to complete a self-paced course and assessment on how to appreciate our national toast topping!

My yankee apologies, Chocko!
I wanted to try it, and that's when he said I'd have to visit the city dump to get it.

Quite a few years back on a trip to Everett WA wife and I took a drive into the countryside and stopped at a town named Leavenworth, Parked the car and the very first shop we came to was a speciality shop selling Australiana. Our flag flying proud outside and a really big Vegemite sign in the window. That really made our day. They also had a great micro brewery in the town. The whole area very pretty and reminiscent of germany's Black Forrest. Goes to show, good taste in the US of A - Vegemite, beer and scenery.

Growing up overseas as a kid and growing up on Nutella, my father brought home a small jar and handed it over to us saying the Ozzy kids love this stuff. Thinking its like Nutella, we ;payed it on thick and both bit into the toast at the same time ... :puke-huge: in stereo!

We then found 'other' things to use it with as we were familiar with 'Magi' the stock ... on eggs instead of salt, as a broth additive instead of salt... but i didn't actually like it until after several years after we moved to WA (Western Australia).

But, I am struggling to see how it works in a Gin, but then I am not very versed in Gin.

It’s not gin unless it has juniper in it :handgestures-thumbdown: a bit like rum without molasses, bourbon without corn or scotch without peat :wtf: and I agree with fizzixs mate, it’s best thrown in bin :))

Well considering bacardi rum is made from milk waste why not use Vegemite in gin hell I'm gunna start collecting the neighbourhood cat sheeeet and turn it into whisky!
If suckers will buy it they're going to keep doing it!

Oh and :text-+1: about saturated market and needing a bullsheet gimmick

Distillery didnt taste website did
What is Vegemite ‘gin’?
Strictly speaking, ArchieMite is not actually a gin as it doesn’t contain juniper, so Archie Rose are labelling it “an unaged spirit”. Featuring freshly churned Pepe Saya butter and Sonoma sourdough toast, the distillers who made it describe it as a “unique and playful spirit” that’s “inspired by Australia’s love for umami-rich breakfast spreads”.

Interesting side note, did a Brewery tour of the Broome based Matsos Brewery (tour is a loose term, we walked into their room ~ 4 x 6M and sat) but, while I found the info interesting (and was thoroughly surprised at how much my wife has listened to my monologue), i food out that Megevite, and its copy cat-clones derive their yeasty substrate from the brewery industry!
