Thinking of upgrading to a Reflux still (from Airstill).
Any advice would be appreciated

Hi Sideboob
I have had an air still for about 10 years. I used it for a while with turbos but was disappointed with the results so took an extended break from distilling . Then I found this forum and have used TPW and CFW washes and redistilled some old turbo with cuts so it was heaps better but the quality of my product was definitely limited by the air still.
I have just upgraded to a 2" boka from Andrew. Part of it has arrived and it is great quality. The rest has been on an extended tour of the east coast with Australia Post for the last week but should get here tomorrow. I am looking forward to trying it out. I'll keep you posted.
Cheers

Do some reading here first. So easy to build your own and heaps cheaper. And Andrew has all the bits you need or even a nice new still

Don’t buy the T500. Grab the new Boka coming through FSD.

My boka has a 1m approx packed section I built. Using scoria stone and it sat comfortably at 1.5l/hr very good neutral spirit. Cant really say I thought it was better than the bubbler though(which I run at 2-2.5l/h....

good advice from MattyB. Big Green Shed for the copper for the product condenser, pump etc, local plumbers co-op for the larger diameter stuff. FSD for the heater if you go electric and eBay for anything else. It's the way I went although I did not keep track of the total cost, it could not have been much more than $300. The result, not too pretty (my soldering is messy but effective!) but outputs nice 94% ABV from TPW.

Thanks all for the feedback.
I got a good deal on a Pure Distilling Reflux Copper condenser kit as I was more looking for a plug and play unit.
Eagerly waiting its arrival!
