Haha North Queensland, small town.
Not many people homebrew here that I know of.

Going to weld this top plate RC adaptor to a 3mm stainless plate instead.
The copper plates are annealed and a bit soft so worried about the 4 x m12 booker rod clamping down on them.

So the stainless plate will take the majority of the force if that makes sense

Plates done

There is a fair few burrs on the underside on the holes but probably won’t worry about it.

Should I drill cap drain holes at 1/16 or forget about it ?

I didn't bother with mine. If the cups are full when you start your next run then you'll get vapour lock a lot faster. That is, vapour doesn't go through the downcomer instead of the sieve holes.

The amount of fluid that downcomer cups hold is negligible compared to the volume of your wash, so even if you did a rum wash and then changed over to running a neutral wash you wouldn't notice any change in flavour from a tiny bit of rum distillate left in the downcomers. Besides the mix of chemicals that are in the downcomers at the end of the run will be exclusively tails and they'll find their way into the boiler pretty quickly, being displaced by lower boiling point components of the wash.

Currently having a makeover: 2" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (1" bubble caps, no sight glasses...maybe not for much longer!) on a bain-marie boiler.

They do, but only on a wheel :teasing-tease:
I added drain holes to mine, I usually only do a run every few months and like the idea that everything has drained out

Thanks gents, :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I think I’m pretty much done except for welding the drain and 2 x element sockets in the boiler
Drain may have to go in the side as I may still need gas to run it if the 2400w isn’t enough....???

Will one goon bag diluted to 25L be enough to sufficiently mimic a run?

Assembly will start Wednesday/Thursday :happy-partydance:

Noted....
was more a time issue.
I’ve got a demijohn left over from the boka, so I’ll use that as a sac run.
Ferment a tpw or ffv and test the packed section after that. :D
Do you guys go to the trouble of using rain/distilled water?

* I’m currently away from the boiler and fermentation gear until Wednesday*
