If your all sitting round still why is it only one got sick?...sorry dont want to be offensive but sounds like hysteria to me. Does said person have experience around stills?
Good point, except that the McBOKA will vent through the top vent hole IF any vapour that has not been condensed reaches the top of the column. This is an important safety feature which means that high pressure can not build up within the column.
In this case I consider that vapour was not condensed because the condenser temperature was too low. Therefore the methanol vapour was able to escape from the vent. If this hypothesis is correct it can only mean that the condenser was not being sufficiently cooled to trap the methanol vapour.
Increase effective coolant water flow through the condenser. Now done.
