We have many friends that have lost the lot and we are helping out anyway we can but for us that was one close call.

Stay safe up there mate, those fires looked bad

It takes a boat about 30 days to get from the United State why are they not getting emergency supply's sent over .
If the feed is processed no problems with quarantine.Big money is being made out of the drought there is not shortage of feed just farmers who can not afford to buy.

The fires are so big they are creating there own climate will be interesting to see what happens when smoke clears and vegetation starts growing .Here in Brisbane we had no rain and no live grass and 4 weeks ago had 150 ML of rain and some more 2 weeks later and now grass is growing madly .

Not sure what you mean, As for the shortage on feed, drought = no feed. processed or not.

as for farmers that can afford to buy feed at %500 mock up prices, worse then milk prices

There is no shortage of feed if you have the money can purchase what ever is needed .The reason feed is expensive is because very little has been imported.
If grain and other food items are processed and cooked like wheat bix or flaked corn or rolled oats then that over comes quarantine problems but that would stop the %500 mock up prices,

When Krakatoa erupted The eruption also affected the climate and caused temperatures to drop all over the world. .With all that smoke has to have effect like a volcano and now there is that volcano in the Philippines. Here in Brisbane had rain a month ago and now after being in drought every thing is growing mad and where these fires have been will start to regrow as these fire have been burning for months .
Interesting that they now want to feed wildlife and before the fires there was little food and water and no help for the animals.

Pulled 60mm out of the rain gauge this morning and yesterday evening the hill river was in full flow and surrounded the house in water, however last nights deluge wasn't as bad and one back in '05 so the drainage system I put in place did it's job.

But eh it was great fun watching that wall of water coming down the hill and my daughter said it must be close to 1/2 a metre high :laughing-rolling: When it hit the garden it was like river rapids coasting down the hill and I suggested getting the boards out to go for a ride :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

O'well all rainwater tanks are full and got plenty of water in my dams so it was great to see January go out with a bang :))

Cheers Bryan

We tipped out 31mm here, by this morning there was one lonely little puddle left, that's how dry it was to start. At least the water tanks and lawn are a lot happier

Well we got the first bushfire of the season and it's quite a few Ks from our farm and on the other side of the freeway. There is rain expected today but I don't think it will be enough rain to put it out, it will be interesting how this fire goes as it is burning in native bush land in gorges etc where only planes can get to it and this fire is on the edge of the hills and southern surburbs so hopefully the CFS can get it under control.

Cheers Bryan

Stay safe Bryan
A work mate evacuated his family (and dogs, cats, birds) last night as they live close to this fire. Hopefully some rain helps
