Is there any difference in fermenting 20L compared to 60L? I ask because I buy a 25 kilo bag of dextrose ever fortnight and would prefer to be able to ferment the entire bag in 1 go, in 1 container.
equipment: 2" pot with 2" shotty 400mm long 5x 1/2" on a t500 boiler. 50l keg boiler 4" still mount 4" sight glass 1" drain.. 4 plate 4" bubbler, 600mm packed section
I find my 20 L fermenter finishes a day or so earlier than my 60 L fermenter. Not sure why, I would have thought the bigger fermenter retained more heat and stayed warmer longer leading to a faster ferment.
Location: South of the big smoke in banana bender land.
equipment: Eve - 4" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (sieve plates), 330 mm packed section on a keg boiler with 2 x 2000 W elements. Currently having a makeover: 2" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (1" bubble caps, no sight glasses...maybe not for much longer!) on a bain-marie boiler.

It is possible to increase a wash size when its fermenting can add extra water and sugar as long s there is space but do not try adding dry dextrose will froth up and try to over flow.
