I have had a few conversations around how often to change the carbon and cleaning it. Any feedback would be appreciated.
I have been told to change the carbon every 20 litres of 40% and not too worry about cleaning it all that often. I have also been told the opposite.
Before I learnt about cuts I used to filter my vodka, if your filter holds roughly 300gms then it'd be the same size as the one I had and I would filter 20Ltr @ 40% before changing it out.
I was also told you can clean and re-use the carbon by boiling it in loads of water until the smell clears; and that the carbon was good for 3 uses in total. I had 1.5kg of it so I could filter 100ltrs before I'd have to boil it, I only did this once as I learnt about cuts and never went back to filtering.
