Oak Bullets

Postby djfrestyla » Wed Nov 28, 2012 5:58 pm

Hi,
Has anyone heard of oak bullets ?
I mannaged to get hold of 30kg of them today, from a local vinyard.
They look like dowel pieces, but about 1" long, with a star surface (heaps of surface area).
These had been used to control oaking in red wine, should impart a nice flavour to rum.

Please let us know how they age up mate! ;) these might be good because ya don't need to store in large mouthed vessels, just pop a few bullets in and she's a goer!
