My first easy flange works a treat :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Image

This is just a mock up to see how it all works... the top bit in the pic will end up being the start of my pot head, and the bottom is the bottom of the main column... I still have to sort out the Bok head and cut it off.

Come home from Adelaide today to a bag if copper from JayD on the doorstep :handgestures-thumbupleft: got the last few bits I needed to finish my pot head, and most of the ingredients for a parrot :) :)

Watch this space over the weekend :music-deathmetal:

Progress pics :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Started with this:

Image

Got the grinder out, and made it look like this:

Image

and then I got a boily mate to do this (3" ferrule from 5 Star, cheers Mac):

Image

I took one of these:

Image

and hit it with the grinder so it looks like this:

Image

Image

Which should keep my packing in place when I run in reflux mode :handgestures-thumbupleft:

With my present from JayD the other day, I could finally dummy up this:

Image

But I modified it a bit... Lengthened the piece between the elbows to give me more distance between the burner and the output, and to give me room to put an easy flange in so I can adjust the angle of the shotty.

Dummied up looks like this:

Image

Aaand my column now looks a bit like this:

Image

Hopefully I can get to an oxy tomorrow and get it all soldered up :music-deathmetal:  :happy-partydance:

Oh, and the start of my parrot:

Cheers Mac :D (If you get a sec and want to change the name of this thread to "Zak's 3" Pot/Boka", that'd be fine by me :handgestures-thumbupleft: )

As soon as the missus brought those strainers home, I knew that one of them was gunna end up in my still! I reckon I might even put another at the top of my packed section...

Currently stripping about 40L if TPW... Started at ~70%, down to about 30% now... Hopefully get the Bok head done this week and rerun it next weekend.

Hearts straight off the still with Lift is going down a treat though :handgestures-thumbupleft:

This is as close as you're getting to a 'polished' pic... quick scuff up with 240 grit, from now on I'll let the patina set in. I like it like that :D

I like this pic...

Pre-cleaning run...

Start of the maiden strip

And the fruits of my labour :music-deathmetal: \\

Started at about 70% ABV... Pulled the pin at about 20%... Will work on the Bok head this week and give it another run next weekend.

I'd like to thank Mac, JayD, and everyone else who has helped or given advice. I'd call the maiden strip a success, and I couldn't have done it without all of your help. Cheers guys.

only thing I'd suggest is fixing up the hoses to condenser connections, last thing you want is one falling off mid run.... :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers guys :)

Kimbo, after a quick cleaning run I stripped 40L of TPW... Started at ~70% ABV and worked down to about 30%, and collected about 8L. I didn't time the whole run, but I was collecting about 4L/hr in the middle of the run, which seems alright to me! I've got another 100ish litres of TPW to strip, hopefully I'll get a chance before the weekend.

Mac, I didn't have any hose clamps handy, but I cable tied the hoses on when I felt how hot they get.

Did a bit of work on my Bok head last night. Get the easy flange ready to solder and cut the slots for the plates. I need to get it finished by the weekend so I can rerun (hopefully) 30 odd litres of TPW low wines :teasing-tease:

Yeah, still got a bit of 3/8" laying around! Once my fermenter is empty (full of ready-to-run TPW at the moment) I'm going to start on a whiskey... Has anyone here tried Odin's Cornflake Whiskey?

Slowly been chugging away, getting my Bok head finished. Got the plates and easy flange soldered up. Yesterday I tried to get the outlet soldered in, but had a bit of trouble getting the solder to stick... I'll have another crack when I get a minute.

I've now got about 30L of stripped TPW, ready to go back through the Bok as soon as I get that done. And my Cornflakes wash is slowly bubbling away, I reckon I might strip that through the pot this weekend as well if it finishes in the next couple of days :music-deathmetal:

I LOVE THIS HOBBY!

Yeah, another fermenter or 3 is on the list... I do have a 200L fermenter, I just don't have the room to set it up until I get my shed built. Currently stilling and fermenting in the missus' patio/back verandah/entertaining area thing, which goes down a treat haha
