Getting a boiler built...does this look right?

Postby TBone » Wed Oct 16, 2013 6:26 pm

Hey all...getting a boiler built. Looking at 4 inch on top, and a 3 inch fill port. There will also be a drain on the bottom.

Question is...do the welding fittings look right and will they work for a modular still attachment?

Hoping Mac might be able to weigh in on this one perhaps!

Thanks guys!

Looks ok to me mate, might just want to bring the sight glass a bit closer to the edge so you dont have to worry about room for the clamps to be installed/removed :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Good point...I've been discussing that with the builder as well.

The plan right now is for a 4 inch on top...and a 3 inch fill port to save room.

Drain valve on the bottom as well.

Going to fire this on a gas burner...I'll see if I can dig up a picture.

If I wanted a sight glass on the fill port Mac...do you sell them in that size?

Ok gents...here's an update on my boiler build. Looks good so far!

I'm also getting a bit of shine put on it to match my future still from 5 Star.

Progress updates are cool :music-deathmetal:

I reckon that's the hardest part done, it's mentally straining the moment you start cutting a good looking virgin keg :))

What are you using to polish it ? it looks great

Can't misrepresent myself Mac...I have a guy building this boiler for me.

http://banksbrewing.blogspot.co.nz/

The builder, Chris Banks, is well known here in NZ for making custom brewery builds.

Check his site out...heaps of cool project builds there.
