Picked up some of this yeast from the local deli

Details http://abmaurianz.com/au/Content_Common ... t.seo.html

Was $3.95 for 500g

Anyway just checking I can use it as a direct substitute for Lowans

Cheers

Ended up using the whole 500g in a 184L TPW batch

It took off really quickly and got down to 0.990 (1.075-79 opening) in about a week and a half. Started at 30*C and dropped progressively to 25*C

Cheers

I didn't mind the smell. Very bready. Fairly pungent even out side the garage and a still night.

that might be because you've used 500g in 184l. in my 220 i only use about 40-60g and just let it do it's thing.

it takes a bit longer but i dont know if that'd make a difference to taste etc over using 500g at start or not.

I used the calculator here for Birdwatcher's http://shuggo.com/birdwatchers/

500g does seem like a lot of yeast

I used 36 kilos of sugar and was aiming for 1075

Ended up with around ~45L at 44% after the 4 strips

Will be doing a spirit run this weekend so I'll see how it scrubs up on a 6 plate + 500mm packeted section

Cheers
