Gunna put down a ~50L batch today, but with a kg of Saunders' Barley Malt Extract in place of 1kg of sugar... Expecting good things!

Sounds great Kimbo.
How does end result come out?

Can you assimilate it to a store bought product?

I'm guessing 4 plates through the bubbler?

And did you drink it as is or oak it as well?

Cheers.
Brad.
P.s. Sorry about the interrogation. Reckon I'll give this a go :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I haven't put mine through the still yet obviously, but it's the best smelling wash I've fermented so far... Really looking forward to it :)

I'm a big fan of supermarket washes... Tried and Proven it is!

Whenever I do a breakfast-based wash, I always use at least half Kelloggs/brand name cereal... You can taste/smell the difference. It's only a couple of $$ difference per wash...

Ha ha ah I feel dodgy loading 20kg of sugar into the trolley...

I made. 60l wash with something like this a couple of months ago, I used the woolies home brand malted barley cereal. The product was delicious.

I want to make some real malted barley and get some peat and try again.

The nutrigrain has been down for a week now and still bubbling away.

I usually sample the product as it in the fermenter. Flavour is weak compared to the corn mash that i usually run. I presume this is normal?

I agree with the above, keep to brand names and do the generation thing, it does get better.
Thanks muchly Kimbo (I still have your bottles albeit empty, come get them any time mate LOL)

Given that nutrigrain just goes to mush not long after it gets wet, any need to actually mill this? Im thinking just dump it in with the hot water while you are mixing up the sugar and it will just fall to pieces wont it?

That's all I did. But to get the grain to ferment, breaking it down is probably a good idea.

I soaked mine with the sugar while the sugar dissolved, then I took to it with the Mrs stick blender (worked a treat)
Topped up with the rest of the water added yeast and Bobs your uncle.
