I duno thats what I got.
Started with 40% like i should
My spirit runs take for ever this was an 18 hour effort.
I keep my temp at exactly 78.8 and just pull an all Nighter.
I no every time i say that these runs take this long :o
PPL say not possible I'm doing something wrong
I can strip 45 litres in around 1 1/2 hours
Reflux on my still would be over 24 hours for my desired result
The best result I have had is about 94 to 96%% from A TPW Spirit Run.
I refluxed this for wait for it 18 hours :scared-eek:

Its working for me and This is how my still works I guess.

Bought some molasses from Noosa Stockfeed at 95c a litre. Self serve into a big 15l water bottle.
It's good quality, as good as I have found it. Nice bitter sweet flavour.

Just found out that Sprengers Produce on the Warrego highway near Brisbane sells 20L containers of Bundaberg Molasses for $17-$18.

Not a bad price!

I am confused as to why everyone says Bundaberg Molasses is a hit above the rest, as it also contains sulphur?

I got 20l from Bernie's Pet and Produce next to the Doombed Race Course for $18. Seems to be fermenting away very nicely. Guy was happy to sell in any volume up to 1000l, unfortunately my car and apartment aren't big enough for that.

That's not bad considering it probly costs them $180-$200/1000l :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft: Well that's all I pay :laughing-rolling:

Well, just used my valuable lunch break to locate some molasses.

Rightly annoyed I is....

2 sellers within 350km of my house. 1 seller has no eftpos machine. My bad, in hindsight, shouda got cash out before I went.

Anywho.....

Went to the other mob. Massive place, very easy to find in a lunch break. You bewdy says I. Not so...

Me: 20L bucket of molasses thanks chief.
Him: No probs mate, bring your car aound the back.
Me: Cool.

Old mate plonks down a green steel drum full of molasses. Here's me thinkin 'gee that drum looks pretty crusty'... He picks up the drum and I spot the "BP LIMSLIP 90" label on the side.

Me: I thought you said this stuff was food grade mate?
Him: Tis, why do you ask?
Me: Cos I wouldn't be drinkin' diff oil let-alone feedin it to me horse (epic cover btw..)
Him: Well, he won't know if you don't tell him...
Me: Kindly told him to fuck off..

I should report the pricks to the RSPC-fuckin-A!

As far as sulphor goes how do I know if it is in my molasses or not? Cant really taste it before or after ferment if it has it will it be noticeable after distill? btw I got 6L for $9 Nice taste strong flavor hint of licorice nice and sweet. Now after ferment smells like beer but still has the molasses taste to it...

Ended up with 3.2l at 65% from 6l feed stock going back for 20l container in next couple weeks.only been on oak 3weeks and by crickey its good stuff :handgestures-thumbupleft: Heard someone mention pet stock for 20l containers anyone know if theirs is food grade wanna try some to compare to feed stock...

I get mine at Furneys rutherford just don't use to much dunder for gens gets acidic.

Sprengers produce warrego hwy sell 200L drums for $125 and you get to keep the drum. Capalaba produce 100L $150 & 200L for $185 you also can keep the drum.

Anyone know where i can get my hands on unsulphured first boil mollasses on sunshine coast? Rang bunderberg sugar but they werent much help...

Feed stock molasses,
I have purchased feed grade un-sulphur'ed molasses, in my recopies I will use only two to three cups along with demerara sugar. The feed grade stuff is very strong in flavour and I use it to "augment" my sugar wash. So strong in fact that I have seasoned my new plates with it as it will clean them in a hot molasses/water solution.

I have sipped it straight but is or seems best with a soda(cola/ginger ale) if consumed green,(new spirit). Aged on oak for a year it's darn good but I'm a little biased. So my suggestion would be to "augment" your beer with molasses.
