Re purposing a twin tub washing machine

Postby Lowie » Tue Jul 21, 2020 8:26 pm

I've had a brain fart...
My old girl gave me her old twin tub washing machine to see if I could sell it on Gumtree for her. Looking at the spin tub gave me an idea - I'm over kneading and prodding the remains of a corn wash to get a decent yield, so much so that I can't be arsed doing it anymore. What if I could put a brew in a bag in the tub and fill it with my corn flour wash and spin the wash out of the corn, leaving a solid lump of corn flour up the sides of the bag  Sounds easy enough. Too easy maybe...Anyone tried anything like this?

I've often thought the exact same thing.

I did see a post on hd I think it was where it all went wrong and destroyed the machine and spray painted the room with mash! :laughing-rolling: keeping it weighted right would be the key.

The other thing you should consider is whether you want the taste of old washing machine in your drink..

I'd love for you to try it so we know the results.

Reckon it would depend on how much weight you are going to put in it, I thought most of the old twin tubs were fairly small? Are you able to put a load of towels in it without rattling it to death or stop spinning?

Also with woody it would need a super good clean I would say.

I'm going to give it a crack, but the machine will be in the middle of the back yard! I'll post back results...

Yeah I reckon we are all thinking of the same vid. On a side note seen some cool ones of front loaders destroy themselves full of bricks... :laughing-rolling:
