a couple of hours in and a F'ing explosive ferment!

Pretty much proves that anything with starch in it can be fermented.

Now the rule is, 'If you brew it, you drink it....' well at least dare to take a gob full....

got a suggestion for the next experiment...

An enzyme conversion of cellulose/chaff to starches...animal feed enzymes are readliy available for this espceially from China...did have a crack myself for about a month but could not get the sugar yield to warrant the effort. Just think free sugars!

Don't enzymes naturally occur in the malted barley that help turn starches in everything else in your mash to ferment able sugars?

yeh your right for starch

But to convert a chaff, saw dust or even old newspaper to starches they use a special enzyme ... they also use it to breakdown feed lot food to increase yield for cattle etc. In Sotuh America it's a revolution as it offers basically extremely low cost bio fuel opportunities.

The big multi nationals allready have developed the enzymes but getting hold of it at our small buy level is near imposible.

So in theory you could use lawn mower clippings to make bio fuel to power the mower again? Did a quick google for bio fuel enzyme kit and a few things came up. Not sure if that's what your after, but their seems to be something out there.

Heres the mob that made the Cellulase I bought for 2 reasons, food grade, one targeted at wheat and aussie sure got plenty of that and extremely high u/ gm content from memory.

I couldn't but it direct and used some shit head alibaba.com distributor. Be advised its lot of hassle. A 1kg pack landed cost me about $287 but there's about 1000 experiments at the weight if you have the energy and time.

I think the best result i ever got was about 2.5kg sugar equivelent but really struggled with filtering , discarding chaff pulp and getting an aceptable flavour.

heating to temp for sugar conversion...that brown~ish fliud is the low sugar syrup produced.
