I was given 75 litres of red wine that had been stored in 50 litre beer kegs from a winery mate. They used it to top up their barrells and it had not be stored properly and was rubbish. I ran it and gave away some of the grappa, which I was told was awesome, I could not drink the. Stuff lol. I aged some as well and it turned out a nice brandy.

Definitely worth running

I did come across that listing and the wine is Shiraz where one barrel is 65% and the other is 50% full. Now from my research into using red wine if the wine is crap the brandy will be also crap :scared-eek:

Still for the current price it is cheap for 2 100 litre barrels but that auction does have a habit of going bonkers and it would workout cheaper just buying the item :scared-eek:

Cheers Bryan

I made crap wine from grape concentrate wine kit fermented in 30c+ temp in garden shed. Once distilled and cut tightly made a nice brandy

I'd love to know, where does one find this kind of thing to bid on in the first place?

Evans clarke national
they have quite a few 25l containers of brandy up next week
I bought a bottle last night so I can see what the brandy will taste like
If it's any good I will have a crack at getting the 25l lots
