Thanks Buj
Good stuff.
I think im getting a basic handle on the running thanks to a number of you who have reached out. Much appreciated.
My Understanding-
Full power, full reflux to get everything happy.
Then, seems to be a choice . Run it like the video by setting the power and leaving it alone and controlling the rc water flow to achieve around 21/2 l per hr once past 4s or

as I think Stig does, full reflux and power initially , back of power on the controlled element , 4s then adjust rc to 21/2 lph and then control flow with power controller thru whole run???
Until tails in both cases- at that stage close the rc off and crank it in pot mode for the rest of the run.
NB Im NOT giving any instructions here , simply seeing if my understanding is correct???? ( I haven’t even done my cleaning run yet.)
Cheers
Dennis

My way too bloke! Stop fiddling with the needle valve once you get those first controlled drips and adjust by power!

P.s. once your column starts filling, pull the power back on your controlled element. Don't try and stabilise while still on full power or you'll just push right past your RC.

Even if you back the power off more than needed , you can always bump it back up later .
Better to start slow .
You’ll be fine just take your time.
Hell, if WD can do it so can you :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Hi Dennis,
2x runs with 40lt washes now, with the Neutralizer.
Both runs had the 2x 2400w elements running full power to heat up.
Then it was the lower element full power, with the top element power controlled between 30-50%, on the 50lt milk can. I adjusted accordingly for the run instead of touching the RC valve.

Takes several minutes for change though in boiler temp.

Done the job for me :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Exactly how I run it, dont run at full power as you need room to move up in power if need be, same with the water flow. If your running max power with Max water you'll be snookered with no wiggle room. I like to run full water and adjust the heat until my plates are running nice and even usually around 3-3.5kw depending on what im running, then back the water off until I get it a few dribbles then leave the water alone and control with power. Sometimes near the end of the run ill bump the water up and the heat to squeeze a bit more hearts out if I time.

OK, thanks.
Bubbling away 2x 60l wbab - lets see how we go in a week or two after I put the monster together- - subject to my bubbling keeping on going! ( Can’t find a smily for prayer )

Awesome stuff mate, hopefully a week flys by quick.
I just received a couple of 60lt fermenters from Kegland, turned out $20 cheaper (inc postage) than the local brew shops.
These will hang out along the dark side of the house, under a cheap BBQ cover, for CFW washes.
My 4x 30lt Fermenters aren't gonna keep up with the Neutralizer ;-)

I actually just removed my needle valve. I now have full flow and I run by power input also. About 2600w blows past my rc. I have 3600w to play with. Soon to be 6kw.... :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hey Bluc!
Only trouble you if the water gets too cold - for me its mainly a mains water costs money thing rather than temperature up FNQ. Decide we truly like it up here, there's reasons any house purchase will have or have room for solar and a pool... Free heating and cooling (sorta kinda :laughing-rolling: ).

I might start running a book on how long before you boys upgrade from 60 litre fermenters lol.

Once you bite the bullet and try an olive barrell 220ltrs you won’t look back. Unless of course you want to do small batches lol

Probably soon after buying a place and building a brew shed hahaha. I *could* be tempted with a bigger boiler, but I'd have to make it a permanent setup with CIP, decent power, etc.

Aside from that, I already have enough trouble finding ways to store - much less age - all the stuff I already make :obscene-drinkingchug:

Haha just mixed the Christmas essences up. Plenty here I've not had before, more than half. Plenty of time for them to mellow down.

If I was to do a stripping run with the Neutralizer...is it a case of just removing the complete packed 500mm section and/or RC?
I'm not a fan of pulling copper mesh from the column, would rather just sideline the whole part for stripping runs and then reinstall for spirit runs.
I will pull the mesh for cleaning every so often though.

Yes just pull the entire 500mm section out .
No need to remove the RC , just turn off the water :handgestures-thumbupleft:
