pot still build

Postby darbwah » Mon Feb 20, 2012 4:03 pm

hi people,
Im just starting out with my first pot still build. What im thinking is a 2" riser, 90degree bend and reducing down to 3/4" then again down to 1/2" pipe in a 3/4" water jacket for the liebig. Boiler will be a 50L keg. Im just not too sure if reducing from 2" to 3/4" is gonna cause a problem? or will it be ok? Wanted to do it that way to try and save a bit of coin on buying bigger pipe. Bit tight arse but easier to convince the mrs if it aint too exxy. Any advice or different suggestions are more than welcome.
Cheers

Hi Darbwah,
that setup will work just fine, maybe put a S/S clamp an ferrule setup just before the 90 deg bend so you can adjust the angle of the condenser ;-)

I've built quite a few almost exactly as you describe, they work great :handgestures-thumbupleft:

sweet, thanks fellas. i better get my bunghole down to the plumbing shop then. does condensor angle have an influence on its operation or just on the collection point?
