First feints Run

Hey guys
Almost enough feints to do my first feints run. My question is what should I expect lol.
Will the heads hearts tails proportions be similar to a normal spirit run ?
Should I expect double heads etc.
I understand this will be a triple distilled spirit but where I am struggling is that I am combining everything I don’t want before and hoping to get something desirable, how does that happen as it sounds like it is magic. Do I need to say abbra kadabbra as I pour everything into the still .

Dont get into habit of "expecting" work on honing in your palate to the different flavours(compounds). Not saying you will but if get into habit of cutting at certain points you can end up with some pretty average spirit..

It will depend on how harsh your cuts are usually. Im a harsh cutter because I dont like hangovers or the really bold flavours of tails so the faints run i did was fairly successful from what I remember. I personally don't do faints runs any more, I put the faints back in with the next run now minus the first 600ml of heads.

Good luck

Thanks Bluc
It is far easy not to develop bad habits rather than break them later. I might of worded the question poorly as I was looking to for an indication of potential volumes. I do cut heavily as I am yet to train my palette so am cautious. I did not want to do a 13 hour run and end up with 1 or2 litres only. far easier to run a new batch and toss the feints.

I like the idea of simply tipping feints back into the next spirit run, means I can spirit run more often as well as less feints to store :)

Thanks for the ideas guys

Well just did my first feints run today.
In simplistic terms the feints run yielded similar volumes to a normal spirit run. I will be tasting it on Friday night so time will tell how much I keep after making the cuts.
Thanks for the advice you guys gave me :handgestures-thumbupleft:

For any newbies interested I cut pretty harshly but still yielded about 8.5 litres at roughly 70% abv from my 40 litres of Feints so it was well worth doing. Given I was drinking my BWKO at 2 weeks, it wound be long before I can give it a taste test. I will let you know good bad or otherwise

Can I use faints on a sacrificial run?

I can’t see why not, many keep the feints of feints for exactly that after cleaning runs.

Yes definitely, you want a mix of heads and tails and don’t drink it afterwards either.
You can store is (clearly labeled) and re use it for multiple sac/ cleaning runs if you like too.
