leaking lid on a digiboil 65l

Postby felipe » Mon Jan 18, 2021 1:59 pm

I have a digiboil 65l I am trying to use as a still but I always get leaks around the edge when the pressure increases.

I have a bubble plate column which weight quite a bit so I have it suspended from the roof to not pressure the lid too much.

Does anyone else have this issue? id so have you solved it?

equipment: old boiler almost had it, got a keg and an element.
6-foot reflux column I made 30 years ago in uni gives me 96' if I control it carfully

Hi felipe,

Sounds like the weight of the still has warped the lid of your boiler. Those boilers are not made to hold any kind of weight at all. If you want to use the plated still, a new stronger boiler is probably the best way to go. Either a modified keg or one of the 5 Star Milk Can boilers would be ideal albeit slightly smaller than the Digiboil.

PS: please pop in to the Welcome Centre and introduce yourself. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers,
Prof. Green.
