Keeping the mash warm in winter

Just grabbed a couple of single bed $15:00 blankets from Aldi special buys which start today.
They fit nicely around a 220 litre drum

Yes I have got a temp controller but the 220 litre barrels are hard to get into a controlled area. So it is a heater and something to control the variations in temp

On the plus side of being in vic it does mean there are no issues with keeping the condenser water cool :laughing-rolling:

It does get a bit cool at times but I get by with my 60L fermenter with its brew belt controlled by a STC1000. the whole lot is wrapped in polystyrene packing and bubble wrap. You could make a fermentation chamber out of cardboard and polystyrene, the whitegoods retailers are a good source and the only tools needed are a stanley knife and hot glue gun.

I use a second hand working fridge freezer ( $50.00 ) that will take a 60L fermenter controlled with an ink-bird ( $50.00 ) with a heat cord ( $25.00 ) on the fermenter.
The only thing I had to do to the fridge was remove the HI temp alarm as it went off every time the ink-bird turned it on.

I smash out my runs in summer so I don't have to worry about doing it in winter
