Condensation in top of bottle

Postby Craiguzzi » Sun Apr 25, 2021 6:16 pm

How do I prevent spirits diluted to drinking strength producing condensation in the top of the bottle?

I don't have that problem with my neutral as I just keep it in the freezer then when on a hot day I can have a cool sensation of nothing :laughing-rolling:

But basically it just comes down to humidity pure and simple

Condensation on the inside of a sealed bottle, so humidity is not the issue

If it's at 45% alcohol then there is 55% water, I would say it's humid in the bottle....

I live in Canberra where it's really cold during winter & really hot in the summer. Whilst I do use post-mix kegs for storage, I do have numbers of bottles stored out in the garage.
I have always thought that the bottles (usually some amongst those stored but not the vast majority) with condensation was caused by a non-airtight seal.
Apparently, I was way off course.
This web site explains why there is condensation in our spirit bottles (a sign that the seal is airtight ...):
