just wondering, do ceramic boil enhancers become smelly after a few uses? Can they be cleaned? Also can anything else be used instead? ie: small pieces of copper? Lastly, can we store spirit in copper vessels in stead of glass? Thanks in advance.

I have not had any issue with the ones I use ( they came with the t500 ). I rinse them straight after use and leave them on a paper towel to dry in the bottom of the boiler.

Copper is good, If your going to cut your own, rough them up and make them thinner than the diameter, you want as many edges as possible.

I use scoria currently, seems to work just fine

Long term storage in copper isnt a great idea with the potential for excess copper to leech in, stainless is a much better opton there and generally cheaper.

Thanks RC AL. I've been storing spirit in long neck beer bottles up till now with no problem. Was just wondering if a copper vessel happened to come along at some point. I have a bit of thin copper sheet in the shed, old hot water tank, do you think a handfull of thin cut strips would make good boil enhancers instesd of ceramic?

Smash an old tea cup or glass or add some marbles before cutting good copper

The tank is already cut up, it's been hanging around in the shed for years. Also, i already use a sterident and white vinigar solution to clean my copper saddles, it works well.Thank's fellas.

Copper in the boiler won’t hurt but also won’t make a difference , copper need to be in the vapor path not in the boiling liquid to be effective .
That’s why ceramic, glass or anything inert will work
