Yes that’s about it Howard, I just use a 2ltr jug and take it a bit easier near the trub bed. I tried a symphony hose but seemed to make a lot of mess.

Hey Bryan
You seem to be the master craftsman of the group!
Happy to receive any helpful bits and pieces :D
Being useless at most things requiring mechanical aptitude I have a heat gun so I can leave the cigarette lighter in the car!
I will address the cooling system once I have a few bottles tucked away. Thinking a radiator and fan so i can run a fairly small water tank.
Thanks
Dennis

Hey Dfer,

Eagerly following this thread. I just picked up a second hand FSD Neutralizer.
Did a sac run a couple of days ago, with 17lt and only 1 2400w element.
Found a few leaks in plumbers tape on condensers hose connections, recommend you test a condenser first for leaks, before installing onto the Westgate bridge pilon (damn they are tall).

I'm currently rigging up a Pulley system to raise the rig, or parts of, off the boiler. Mainly for removing packed section. I've got a 2.7m roof and still having height issues :-B

Good on you @Buj, you’re ahead of me. Had a few set backs time wise for one reason or another and hope to get my 2x60 fementers going this weekend.
Also hope to avoid leaks in a week or 2 once fermentation is finished.
I plan on dishwasher for all ss parts and 551 for copper.
Stig says i can skip vinegar run so my plan is to put say 20 litres of my wash thru for cleaning and pratice. Then to run the balance and hopefully get drinkable production to impress swmbo!
I am going to put a pully on mine as well as i have 3 metre high garage and it seems the most sensible way if lifting some pretty heavy gear.
Love to see your set up with pully.
What wash ru using.
Cheers
Dennis

Hi Dfer,

The Pulley system is a bit restrained for me due to height. I may have an inch play to raise the section of the still I want to disconnect. It's now more of a support system if I have to slightly lift the still off, and slide out the empty boiler (on a Dolley).

I've used photo AI to remove the background (house mates junk) in the pics.

If I need to remove packed section then I can roll the Dolley to pulley point and sort.

I didn't worry about a vinegar run as the still was used. Just dishwasher and soft scourer pad, and the citric acid soak for the existing copper and new bunch I bought off Stig.

I've made some great Neutrals from the 2" Boka and am so looking forward to my first keeper run on this thing.

I've been running Neutrals with CFW washes. Just my preference.

I do have 40 odd litres of Gen1-4 BWKO low wines I need to run and some stage.
If solar is booming tomorrow or Friday I'll run 40lt of CFW wash.

great set up, although not much wriggle room at the top of the rig.
i have a similar pulley system, for support mainly.
when i pour an on-the-grain wash into a BIAB bag in the boiler, i use the pulley to hoist the BIAB and let it drain.
one thing, i use a very heavy steel fishing line leader instead of a chain.
it's goes through a silicone tube to minimise rubbing/chaffing on the still.

Great info Buc although I think Howards suggestion of a silicone sleeve to protect the still is a good idea. Fortunately I have 3 metres to play with.
One question I have been thinking about, is it ok to pull the whole still up from the top?
I have been thinking about a clip on clip off set up that shares the load by having two anchor points , one below the bottom bubbler and the 2nd on top to keep it all centred.
You have obviously served your apprenticeship on other stills whereas Im a complete novice.
I just had my heating elements wired and still need to pick up a water filter and 3 dollys. One for still and 2 for fermenters.
All progressing slowly.
Thanks for the photos.
Cheers

Hi Dennis,
I ran my first keeper batch of Neutral, from 40lt CFW wash yesterday.
HOT DAMN....We both got an awesome bit of kit with these

The run went great. 4hrs 20mins from turn on to finish. I refluxed it for an hour, got carried away watching it rain and bubble :D
With all 5 plates and a 500ml packed section I was pulling out 95% AVB.
Ended up with 18x 250ml cut jars, which I'll sort today.

The RC water intake gate valve doesn't take much tweaking, only the tiniest turn, and wait a minute or two, to see the flow rate changed. Took me a few jars to dial it in to 250ml/6mins or 2.5lt/hr. I'm so used to the needle valve on the Boka.

Howard's idea with the silicone tube is great. I've got some here that I'll warm up and pull over the chain :handgestures-thumbupleft:

If the stills all tight and anchor points are strong then I don't see an issue with the hang weight. I won't be able to lift the still up off the boiler, due to no play in pulley rope height but I'll be able to hand lift the still a pinch and swing to side of boiler.
Mainly just need to support the RC and everything after to remove or install the packed section.

You got me excited Buj!
Sounds very impressive. Im getting my 2x 60 wbab going Sunday and will hook everything up as well and sit it on my fsd 50 milk can - As Sig said, and he would ;-) know! ;-) . Test my water connection etc.
Hopefully it won’t be like when i assemble an Ikea thingy, I always have bits left over. :teasing-tease:
Should be doing my cleaning / learning run of the first 20 litres or so and then run the remaining 70 litre production run in about 2 week.
Cheers

Hi Dennis,
The below thread is a great read, especially towards the last several pages.
