On both of my kegs I just marked out the hole using the gasket the used a 1/8th cobalt drill and drilled holes all round the inside of the marking. Once I'd drilled all the holes I just knocked out the "bung" and cleaned up the large hole with a die grinder.

Boy do I feel like a geezer,
Mentally put aside an hour or two to drill and fit element in my keg.
Took a grand total of 5 mins.

I stand strongly by this cheapie product, drilled through flawlessly and would do it a few more times I'd like to think.
Slow drill setting, plenty of WD40.
But nearly finished my still.
Just waiting on last bits and bobs and she'll be ready for cleaning and I have 25litre TPW and USJM to put through.

Stoked.
