oil problem

Postby millsy808 » Sat Sep 08, 2012 12:16 am

hello,
this is my first time on a forum, so hopefully you guys can answer my questions?

i have been making my own spirits for a couple of months now with varying success!
i have been trying different things to see what works.
But lately, after the distilling process i find that my neutral spirits have an oily look and smell to them and they taste like crap. (after filtration)
i have changed my fermentation method
i upgraded my filtration system
i throw 150mil of heads
segregate the body in individual litres (all litres have oil in them?)
and never include the tails!

is there something Im not doing right, or could it be time for me to upgrade my reflux column?

as i have made great batches in the past, i just don't understand?

any help will be great

Yes we do need more but let me guess:
Still Spirits Classic or Alcotec 24 or 48 turbo's and your using carbon in the wash ??
If your using the turbo carbon in the wash, STOP IT NOW !!!!!!!!! it will improve vastly.
