I've been doing the reading around the place about heating element controllers,
I understand that there are people using the following:
Thermostats
Router Speed Controllers
Burst Fire / Phase Angle controllers
PID's in manual mode hooked up to SSR
Triac Based controllers
I am currently running 2200W, may want to go larger in the future
I understand that some are frowned upon by most experts because they are off on only, the triac and phase angle seem to eliminate this
I was wondering what experience people have here running 240V Australian with these various controllers, how easy they are to build / is there someone in australia who makes them / has there been any need to filter them / how long they last. Also where you sourced your parts from would be informative.
I'm thinking that a PSR-25 based controller that can handle up to a 5500w hot water element running on 240v is probably the rolls royce but would be interested on your thoughts
cheers
