Bung for demijohn

Postby 5 o'clock » Sat Jan 18, 2014 11:07 pm

I have a couple of 25 litre glass demijohns that I intend to age some rum and whisky in. The depth should make it easy to occasionally drop an airline into it for acceleration of the process.

The local HBS where I bought them from only has rubber bungs. I assume that rubber falls into the same category as plastics?

Anyone know where I can get silicone or cork bungs of approx 40 mm diameter.

Alternatively can I custom make a silicone one using silicone from a caulking gun?

:text-+1: If you've got any oak staves around, they would be perfect :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Just my first hit from a google search, I knew they were available, I have purchased a few from my local HBS.

or though the ones I bought for my demi-johns were only $6 (which I thought was steep at the time).
