Ok so far taken 3 litres @90% so time to load the plates up to compress the tails to get hopefully the last couple of litres :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Now after that puke I let it settle then put just enough heat on to get a fast drip/ toothpick stream and left it at that so no more chance of a puke. The plates are taking turns at loading up and with every site glass covered in puke it will fun to see the site glass's fog to see the onset of tails. Took a DP :obscene-drinkingchug: and it does show alot of promise :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers Bryan

What's this puking your all talking about, never had it happen since I've got an agitator in the boiler :teasing-neener:

Time for an upgrade Bryan?

Well got 3.8 litres before cuts and as I was saying before it was hard to see the siteglass's fog up and when I checked after the last 600ml cut the ABV was 45% :scared-eek: so got some tails in the mix which isn't really a bad thing.

Decided just to go with a sugarback and got 10kg's of sugar dissolved in the hot backset and got a starting gravity of 1085. Earlier today I put a heat belt around the fermenter and not long after it warmed up the yeasties came to life :handgestures-thumbupleft: Now got some slow bubbling going on and it will be interesting to see if the grain rises again or just stays in the wash.

Cheers Bryan

Well the fermenter is bubbling away but not as intense as the first ferment and the grain is staying down in the wash this time so I do think there was still plenty of goodies to be had in a back to back wash :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Anyway as the site glass's were all stained decided the plate tree did need a citric bath and when taking the site glass's off to clean them didn't brake one of them :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I did have a citric bath setup for doing bethemoth so put somemore citric acid in the bath and gave it a good mix then filled the tree where it can sit for a few days to get the patina all off and ready for a fresh run next time.

Ended up with 3.4 litres of 90% after cuts and I will combine this with the next run to get enough to fill the badmo barrel :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Cheers Bryan

So after airing for a few days decided this arvo to have a DP of this spirit so tempered it down from 65% to 40% and after swallowing my first thought was that laproag spirit as the smoke flavour nearly blew me away :laughing-rolling:

So guy's get onto this peat malt and the sooner the better as that "hurry up and wait " period will be shorter :laughing-rolling:

Now you are getting me very excited indeed. That is exactly the flavor note i'm hoping to achieve with this Gladfield heavy smoked Peat Malt.
