+1 Maheel

Yep Cheeko 6kg dextrose with, say, 250g tom paste and 80g lowans-type yeast and 'dash' of citric acid into a 'not too hot at start' 25l will make a good TPW (esp now that Spring has sprung).

Welcome to the forum BTW and esp to the EXCLUSIVE airstill sub club  ;)

I think what he means is the authorities sit there scoping nearmap/google earth for illegal activity, looking for shiny copper stills glowing in the sunlight :ugeek:

I ran a 50L TPW yesterday, as I was hosing the tomato-yeast slurry from the bottom of the fermenter I got to wondering whether I could boil some of it up with the sugar for the next batch for a bit of extra yeast nutrient? Or would that make it a bit to yeasty?

I mix a couple of teaspoons of fresh dry yeast with a couple of table spoons dry sugar then added a little vinegar and a little water put it in microwave and boil leave a couple minutes and reboil it gets that hot not a good idea to touch boiled liquids from microwave they can erupt .

Busman Id say TPW has all the nutrients in the original recipe that it needs.....You could be just increasing the risk of making an off tasting neutral wash.

Just wondering what the Vinegar does ????

Thanks SBB, I thought as much. Worth asking if anyone had tried it though.

I've heard of people using a little vinegar in place of citric acid to help convert sugars, is that what you're getting at wynnum1?
