Sounds interesting. I wasn't expecting huge coffee flavour to pull through. I'm gonna try this in pot still but maybe lighter on molasses to try to highlight the coffee. Might try beans too, or dude by side comparison with a batch of instant. I aged rum on beans once wasn't bad but bit harsh

Btw, does white mean unoaked on this forum??

2 weeks on and this has come real good.
I was convinced this was a failed experiment, thankfully it wasn't.

I just put down another wash so i can put it through the pot for comparison.

Both. I drank the white last night but sampled the oaked and it is also good.

Good to hear. I'm gonna do three batches side by side - instant, beans, ground. All to be pot stilled and oaked I think

This is now 3 months old so time for an update i think.

This stuff kicks ass. I love it. Good balance of coffee and rum. Time on oak is definitely the key, white i didnt like it. Has a nice coffee after taste. Tastes good neat, on ice or with a splash of coke. Didnt have ginger beer or ale so will test this next time.

Bring on the warmer months so i can get some batches of this stuff going. I will even try fermenting a normal rum wash and just add the coffee to the boiler and see if that does anything different.

I haven't tried combining the two, but I make the two separately, I might mix and match a bit and see how it taste.

Well a bit down the experience track, I have to wonder at stilling coffee

Cant help but feel it would be better added after stilling, did you try that at all BR?

Adding the coffee after made it completely different and was not what i was after. It was a fail tbh.

This stuff tastes like rum with a lingering hint of coffee. Very nice.

Will definitely give this a go! Thinking of adding a couple of vanilla beans to the vapour path. :text-thankyoublue:
